You additionally need this to make it last a long time:
For higher and stable rail pressure you need our upgrade high-pressure pumps right from the start. With the upgrade fuel lines, each pump is supplied individually and evenly with fuel. Instead of longlife oil you should use 5W40 racing oil.
We recommend using 102-octane fuel. This gives your engine more power because it reduces knocking. In addition to our high-performance ignition coils, we also recommend NGK Competition spark plugs. This ensures a stable spark and fewer misfires, even under extreme power conditions and high boost pressure.

In power level 2 you need upgrade actuators for higher boost pressure that comes with the larger turbos. Upgrade spark plugs are mandatory from level 2. One of the most important upgrades you also have to make on the 4.0 TFSI EA824 are the valve springs!
Optionally, you can install a catless downpipe and upgraded turbo inlets with a larger cross-section at this stage. The downpipe reduces back pressure and takes some of the load off the turbocharger. The turbo inlets provide greater airflow and lower flow loss.

Downpipe and turbo inlets are now mandatory. The larger turbos are designed for 1000 hp and are equipped with our High Flow exhaust manifolds. These prevent misfires caused by excessively high exhaust backpressure. A more powerful coolant pump must also be installed to increase the volume flow and further reduce the charge air temperature.
To make it easier to install the manifold, we recommend our turbocharger mounting kit. You’ll also need an upgraded intercooler and an additional competition water cooler to effectively cool the charge air and thereby reduce back pressure. Starting with stage 3, you should switch to 5W50 racing oil.

Now it gets serious: From stage 4 you should start thinking about a water-methanol injection to reach 950 hp.
Starting at Level 4, we recommend an upgraded in-tank pump to ensure an adequate low-pressure fuel supply.

To achieve maximum power, you need to ensure a strong engine periphery. You should also upgrade your air intake.
In addition, we recommend h-beam connecting rods, forged pistons, and upgraded intake manifolds to improve fuel delivery and engine stability.

Useful items for your workshop
For perfect tuning, you need the right expertise and tools. At BAR-TEK®, you’ll find everything you need to tune your engine. Here you’ll find a detailed repair guide, some of which include illustrations (where available for your engine), as well as the most important tools from our shop:
This is what you need to cool your EA824:
If you want to get the full performance out of your EA824, you must absolutely not forget the cooling. Even a small increase in performance puts significantly more strain on your engine! The thermal load rises and affects all areas of your engine, and the gearbox also suffers from the new power. In the best case, the hard-earned performance is reduced again; in the worst case, your engine suffers catastrophic damage. So that you can tune your engine safely and reliably, you can get everything you need for perfect cooling from us, from the competition water cooler to the upgrade water pump through to the upgrade intercooler.
The optimal turbocharger for your tuning project
The turbocharger is one of the most important tuning measures of all, because extreme performance potential lies in the compression. That’s why you’ll find all turbos from the guides and suitable alternatives in this special turbo guide, in case you prefer a specific manufacturer, for example. We have also compiled a lot of information for you on the subject of turbochargers that you should take a look at. In addition to the detailed turbo tips, there is a page on the subject of running in engines correctly, on the turbo lag and of course our 14 turbo rules.
Racing engines from BAR-TEK®
If you don’t feel like tuning your engine yourself, you can also get a fully tuned engine from us. Our racing engines are designed for maximum performance and maximum driving fun and leave nothing to be desired. The included components are optimally matched to each other, finely balanced and suitable for very high revs. Because we use motorsport components, for example forged piston and steel conrod, our racing engines have very high durability. This gives you a completely finished engine that not only delivers full power, but is also safe and has a long service life.
