Exclusive insights into the "Area 51" workshop at BAR-TEK®

We’re a whole lot more than one of the largest online stores for tuning accessories. In our Tuning Workshop, which we call “Area 51”, passion, experience and technology all come together. Here, we perform measurements to find out what’s what and, as well as our customers’ tuning projects, we also work on projects of our own. These entail designing and building racing engines, BEDI cleaning, and a great deal more besides. Below you can see what this looks like.

In addition to our shop, one of the largest online shops for tuning parts, we also implement our vision of professional tuning in our tuning workshop. In our so-called "Area 51" we continue what Bartek has been doing in Formula 1 for more than 10 years: We make engines faster, more stable and safer. With our 1000 HP test bench and the know-how of more than 15 years of motorsport we bring your car to the race track. Here we only install the best components from the most renowned manufacturers. In addition, we are constantly developing our products on the basis of our experience. It goes without saying that our team consists of people with motorsport experience who share your love of performance enhancement. Passion and technology in an auto tuning workshop

Our passion is fast cars and making them even faster. If you take a look at our projects, you will see that we can get even more out of EVERY car in our workshop - from the VR6 Turbo with 1000 HP, to the Audi R8, to the Lamborghini Urus! We don't want to keep these results from you, which is why you can have your car tuned by us. We do everything that ambitious tuning fans love and the possibilities are almost unlimited: From tuning with chip tuning to a complete racing engine, everything is possible. What you can't expect from us, you'll find below. We put the most emphasis on great results through the latest technology and are happy to advise you on how to get the most fun out of your ride. These are the services in our tuning workshop


With chip tuning, we tune the software of your ECU so that you can expect more power, more torque and often also less consumption. We do this by extracting everything that is still available from the factory-set parameters. To do this, we first measure all the relevant data such as torque, power loss, engine output and so on, and then overwrite them for the most balanced performance increase possible. Very important is that we always leave the safety functions of the engine control switched on to protect your engine from capital damage. Just think of us chiptuning your engine's performance out of the bag!

Engine and transmission builds - complete race engines

If you want to go the whole hog, you can get your own racing engine directly in our tuning workshop. Here we install components that are optimally matched to each other and which, when combined, are simply fun to drive. As always, we put a lot of emphasis on making your racing engine fit for the highest revs. And because we only use motorsport parts, our engines are also extremely stable. Of course, we also provide you with the matching gearbox assembly to be able to pack the extreme extra power.

BEDI cleaning

With the BEDI cleaning (BEDI stands for direct fuel injection) we free your engine from nasty coking, which unfortunately occurs regularly with engines with direct fuel injection. Among other things, this coking results in a sharp drop in performance and the engine running rough overall. To make your engine fit again, we free the intake ducts, combustion chambers, valves, throttle valve parts, EGR valves and idle speed adjusters from the deposits.

Conrod Angle

conrod should be checked in all cases (even those from reputable manufacturers) for one hundred percent parallelism to avoid piston seizure. This happens quickly with small deviations, then piston- and cylinder bore wear on one side and the piston seizure has already happened. In our tuning workshop we have the possibility to measure and angle the conrod exactly, so that you can continue to enjoy the full performance.

Injection nozzles service

conrod should be checked in every case (even those from well-known manufacturers) for one hundred percent We have upgraded to such an extent that we now also carry out the testing and cleaning of injection nozzles and high-pressure injectors in our workshop. Again, even completely new injectors must be tested, as scattering can occur. A professional cleaning in our nozzle test bench is usually sufficient to restore smooth engine running. Afterwards the injectors look like new again, misfires stop and consumption levels off. In this video you can see the nozzle test bench in action:

Performance measurement and tuning on the 1000 HP test bench

Our MSR test bench is one of the most modern in the world. Here we can make extremely precise measurements comparable to those in Formula 1. Thanks to the many possibilities, sensors and measuring techniques, we quickly get a very comprehensive picture of your vehicle and can very well tackle performance on the basis.

These are all exciting and sometimes useful things, but we only do what we love and are really good at: increasing the performance of your car. So we are mainly a tuning workshop in Cologne or the surrounding area, and we do everything we can to unlock the performance of your car.

Hi servus ich habe einen Audi Tt 8n 225 mit 1.8 t APX Motor In moment das motor läuft einwandfrei Es hat ein Chip tune beim MTM (~260ps) Was möchte ich Generell Kontrolle Ventilkopf dichtung Und einspritzdöse Es würde gut sein ~300 ps raus zu bekommen Wie viel würde das alles kosten? Mit freundlichen Grüßen Danis.

guten Tag ich wurde an sie verwiesen ich brauche ein chiptuning sprich einstellung aller komponenten nach einbau neuer Motor bei meinem ersten Polo G 40 bei meinem 2ten brauche ich die abstimmung auf der Rolle da ich den wagen mit tuningteilen neu aufgebaut habe danke für die rückmeldung

His first car was a Polo Mk1 with a 40 Weber twin carburetor and 129 PS (95 kW). His second was an Audi 50. Today Bartek tunes Lamborghinis to 1000 PS (735 kW). Even as a young boy, Bartek disassembled vehicles and put everything back together better. He wrote his high school diploma with oil on his fingers. The trained automotive mechanic with a focus on engines and gearboxes was determined to go into motorsports. In his 10 years in Formal 1, he supervised 73 races, including as engine mechanic for Ralf Schumacher at Toyota. Since 2010, he has dedicated himself fully to his company BAR-TEK® and helps his customers to bring VW and Audi engines to peak performance.
