Description

The B58 Gen.2 engine is fantastic, but has a known problem: its charge air pipe. This pipe is notoriously fragile and can break even on stock cars under heavy load.

If you are considering tuning your engine, it is highly recommended to replace the charge air pipe beforehand. Do88 has chosen a flexible connection between the two pipes that can cope with thermal expansion/contraction. Our solution is an aramid reinforced silicone hose with 3 curvatures. This tube design allows movement in any direction without folding or stressing the connections. To further strengthen the design, the tubes have CNC-milled 6063 hose connection ends with a wall thickness of 3 mm. These hose connections do not deform, even with over-tightened hose clamps.

The charge air pipes not only solve the durability problem, but of course also improve performance. We have designed our pipes with a larger diameter and smooth mandrel bends to increase performance. The lower pipe measures 60mm (2 3/8") and the upper pipe measures 76mm (3"), they effectively reduce pressure drop and reduce turbulence.

Important note The available space for the charge air pipe between the throttle body and the slam panel (the sheet metal part that lies over the radiators) is very limited on the G-chassis platform. In some cases, it may be necessary to grind off the edge of this slam panel by a few millimetres to create additional space for the do88 charge air pipe.
