Description

"Problems" with oil cooling are not foreign to the N54 engine, so we recommend installing the MSL oil thermostat. The standard oil thermostat reaches around 120 degrees Celsius under normal driving conditions. The MSL oil thermostat opens at a lower temperature than the standard oil thermostat (at 85 degrees) and maintains a stable temperature between 95 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the vehicle model. Installing the MSL thermostat provides a cooler oil temperature, which results in more stable performance, but most importantly, improves engine reliability. We recommend installing the thermostat, especially on tuned vehicles.
The thermostat is plug-and-play and is manufactured directly at Mosselmann's own factory from a solid block of high quality aluminum. It features a true thermostat and is not an "always open" solution. The oil warms up just as fast as with a stock thermostat.

Note: The oil thermostat installation kit prevents the oil thermostat from leaking and is highly recommended when installing the MSL oil thermostat.
