With the turbine housings for Garrett turbochargers, you can configure the turbo according to your own requirements. This makes sense, for example, if you want to adapt the turbo for a different engine displacement with other A/R values. Housings with different flanges can also be installed.
Correctly determining the A/R value:
The A/R value determines the exhaust gas flow of the turbine housing and is therefore largely responsible for the performance characteristics of the turbocharger and engine. As a general rule: the smaller the A/R value, the earlier the turbocharger spools, but on the other hand the exhaust backpressure increases and the maximum power output decreases.
