Description

Race main bearing shells for the 4.0 and 4.2 boxer engines as in the 991 and 992 GT3.

These Tri-Metal bearing shells for the crankshaft were developed to withstand higher engine outputs and are specially designed for high-rev concepts.
Longer engine life due to special coatings. The multiple coating improves heat transfer and maximizes adhesion between the bearings.

The bearing shells are constructed as follows:

  • Lead, tin, copper coating
  • Nickel coating
  • Copper lead coating
  • Hardened steel backing

Further advantages:

  • High strength despite reduced thickness
  • The improved oil drilling improves the oil film
  • Increased eccentricity to compensate for bore deformations at high speeds and to support the formation of a hydrodynamic oil film
  • Enlarged ID chamfers on the bearing edges
