Description

For this application, we decided to completely redesign the entire airbox from scratch.

The stock intake manifold tapers significantly from the opening at the intake plenum toward the airbox. While it is common practice with most intake systems to enlarge or aerodynamically optimize the intake manifold, this usually results in barely noticeable performance gains. The effect on airflow is minimal because the air must first pass through the highly restrictive and tightly dimensioned section of the stock airbox – even if the cross-section behind it is enlarged.

Our approach was to develop an intake pipe that maintains and even increases the cross-section of the plenum opening. This required a complete redesign of the airbox in order to create the passage for such a large-diameter pipe. The result is an intake pipe with a significantly larger volume and cross-section that gradually expands toward the large-surface air filter. The plenum can now receive air at maximum capacity because the cross-section remains constant or increases.
