Downpipes – Y-pipes in the BAR-TEK® shop
You can achieve an enormous increase in performance with a downpipe. The Y-pipe, as it also called, is a part of the exhaust system and is located behind the turbo bearing and in front of the middle muffler. The downpipe ensures a rich turbo sound, so the conversion is very popular with tuning fans. In addition to the boost in performance, the driving experience plays a large role here.

When tuning the downpipe, keep in mind that the conversion must be approved by TÜV. Thanks to our TÜV verification, many of our items can be registered with TÜV without a problem. The products are marked accordingly.
Why you should tune your downpipe
Along with the wonderful sound, tuning the downpipe has many more advantages. This is why you should tune your downpipe:
- The exhaust gas back pressure is reduced through the larger diameter.
- Reducing the exhaust gas temperature ensures more torque.
- In combination with other tuning measures, the upgrade ensures more hp.
- The incredibly rich sound knocks you off your socks.
Stainless steel downpipe for 2.5L TSFI engines
The larger the diameter of a downpipe, the better the engine performance can develop. Our large stainless steel downpipe for 2.5L TSFI engines is 4" on the turbocharger output and then goes to a 3" connection to the 2.5" cat connections. It is fitted on the turbocharger and transfers the exhaust gas to the catalytic converter. With this Y-pipe, both the turbocharger and the engine will have a longer useful life. Acceleration is much faster!
1.8T Y-pipes
With the 1.8T Y-pipes, you will get real power in your Audi S3. Due to the 76-mm diameter of the downpipe, the turbocharger can breathe freely. The exhaust gas back pressure is significantly reduced, which for you means more performance and a longer service life. The downpipe is made of stainless steel and comes with high-quality installation material, metal gaskets, copper nuts and new stud bolts for the turbo.
